In honor of the important role women friends play in our lives, in 1999 Kappa Delta created National Women's Friendship Day for women everywhere. This special day provides all women the opportunity to remember the special women in their lives, to acknowledge and celebrate the treasures they call friends.

Over the years, there has been a very positive response from women across the country. In honor of National Women's Friendship Day, women have held seminars, luncheons, makeover parties, spa days and friendship walks. Groups have visited museums and toured historic sites. Women have made friendship bracelets for women in nursing homes and collected clothing for needy women. Many stores and boutiques have promoted the day with special events and sales. One year an entire mall celebrated with fashion shows, book-signings by women authors, raffles and giveaways. For two years, General Foods International held an annual campaign that featured a national essay contest to promote its specialty coffees.  Other companies like Vera Bradley, Suzy's Zoo, Karen Neuburger, Ltd. and b.sweets chocolate have promoted the day in various ways.
