Chapter's Recent Accomplishments

Alpha Chi Chapter began the 2007 school year with Recruitment, excited and anxious to meet their soon to be sisters. They happily approached Bid Day, selecting 32 wonderful women to become their sisters. Each of those women represents the epitome of a Kappa Delta sister and has enhanced their chapter in countless ways.

Alpha Chi Chapter had a very successful year in the area of academics. They earned the title of number one on the lane in grades for fall, winter, and spring quarters this year, while their newest members had the highest GPAs of all the other sorority’s new members as well. Two sisters were rewarded scholarships from the Kappa Delta Foundation. One sister received the Levert-Dickson Leadership Award, given only to an Alpha Chi Chapter member.

Alpha Chi Chapter strives to maintain excellence on campus. They are proud to be the defending Greek Week champions three years in a row. Kappa Delta has three members serving on Panhellenic Council, as well as officer positions in Order of Omega and Omicron Delta Kappa. One sister was elected to the 2007 Homecoming Court, two were nominated for Greek Woman of the Year, and two were also selected to serve on the coveted Orientation Student Leader Staff. Kappa Deltas hold many Student Government positions, including class officers, senators, and cabinet members. They have other active members in Union Board, Student Advancement Team, Student Recruiters, Freshmen Leadership Team, and Golden Key Honor Society.

Their chapter volunteers many service hours for the community of Ruston. Throughout the year, they have been recognized in articles in the Ruston Daily Leader commending their philanthropic work. Their largest philanthropy event was their annual 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run Shamrock Event. They were able to raise over $15,000 for the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home and Prevent Child Abuse America with the help of the campus and community.

At this year’s National Leadership Conference in Boston, Alpha Chi Chapter was given the Five Star Award in recognition of overall excellence in chapter leadership, academics, social responsibility, philanthropy, and membership. This award was given to the top twenty-five percent of Kappa Delta chapters across the nation. Alpha Chi Chapter was also recognized for being extremely successful in the areas of leadership and social responsibility.
